What Can You Expect from EMS Training? Experiences with Bodify EMS

Anyone who deals with training methods and movement in everyday life will sooner or later ask: How does EMS training feel in practice – and how can it fit into an everyday routine?

This question also comes up with EMS, a method that has been used in sports for many years and is often offered in studios alongside traditional strength or mobility training. With EMS, your muscle groups are targeted via electrical impulses—combined with simple movement exercises.

Just like with conventional methods, the training experience with EMS can be highly individual. To answer the most important questions about EMS training, we’re taking a look at experiences with Bodify. Some of our users share their EMS journeys and give personal insights into their daily routines with our trainers.

How does EMS training work?

EMS stands for electrical muscle stimulation. It’s a training method where muscles are specifically activated through external impulses.

With every natural movement we make during the day, muscles are stimulated to contract by electrical impulses. These are known as muscle contractions—and EMS training uses the same principle.

EMS repeats this impulse and triggers contractions intentionally. However, these may differ in intensity from everyday movements.

The Bodify EMS trainers are designed to target multiple muscle groups at once, including the back, abs, legs, arms, or glutes. Each training session lasts 25 minutes and can be adjusted in intensity depending on individual settings.

With targeted stimulation of specific muscle areas, you can tailor your training to focus on your personal goals. For example: with our Glutes Trainer, you can specifically activate the glute muscles, while the Abs Trainer lets you focus on your abdominal area.

EMS training can be used as a supplement to existing fitness or movement routines. How you structure your personal training is entirely up to you!

Experiences with Bodify EMS

Now that the basics are clear, the question remains: how does EMS feel in practice, and how do users integrate it into their routines? Of course, there’s no universal answer. As with any training method, EMS depends on your personal routine, goals, and how consistently you use it.
Still, we’ve followed a few of our users on their Bodify journey.

I started EMS training mainly because I was looking for more variety in my workouts. I wanted something new to support my traditional training,” says Nora (29). She now uses EMS regularly, mostly because of the easy handling and short sessions that are easy to fit into her day.

For Marianne (41), Bodify EMS was also intended to enhance her running routine: “I was curious how EMS would fit into my running. It’s definitely a new kind of muscle activation I hadn’t experienced before.”
Jana (37) tells us: “At first, I was skeptical about whether EMS would be right for me. But now I really enjoy it because I don’t need much time and still feel like I’m doing something for myself. I now see EMS as a supplement to my runs and short workouts. I like that I can focus on specific muscle groups.”

EMS training as part of everyday routine

If you want to integrate EMS training into your routine, aim for two to three sessions per week. It’s important to stick with it consistently over several weeks. That’s how EMS can become a lasting part of your schedule.

Many users report that over time, they become more familiar with the sensation of muscle activation and how EMS fits into their routine. This experience can vary from person to person—some get used to the sessions after a few weeks, while others take longer.

Lara (34) shares: “I’ve been using Bodify for a few weeks now as part of my routine. What I like most is that I can do the sessions at home. At first, I had to get used to the feeling, but after a few sessions it became familiar. The routine worked well for me, and I really like the feeling after a session because I can feel my muscles have been activated.”

These personal insights can help others stay motivated without being tied to a fixed timeline. It’s also important to include complementary activities like walking, stretching, or additional workouts. This way, EMS training becomes not just a step toward your goals, but a lasting part of an active daily routine.
